What:  System Speak Symposium (in-person only)

When:  April 24-27 (Thursday Night Opening, Sunday Morning Closing)

Where: Boise, Idaho

Why:     Intensive Psychoeducation and Peer Support

(specifically related to trauma, deprivation, development, and dissociation)

 

Details:

This is advanced topic material, some of which is referenced in Emma’s book The Problems with (Complex Trauma) Therapy.  You do not need to read the book prior to the symposium.  The sessions will incorporate both cognitive (left brain) and expressive (right brain) processing through graphics, discussion, handouts, and art activities.  Familiarity with the podcast is recommended but not required (it will be referenced and used as a framework for the symposium).  Sessions will not be recorded.

 You do need to be able to respond to your own system when activated, know how to ground or “regroup”, and how to participate in groups according to our community guidelines (see here).  You do need access to your therapist and support people via text, email, phone, or video as needed.  

This is not a therapy, nor is Emma or Jules acting in the role as your therapist.  This is peer support facilitated by Emmas and Jules.

You will arrange your own housing, and transportation to and from the airport and symposium site daily, as well as your own meals (microwave available on site).  Emma and Jules will be on site for the day symposium sessions only.  Participation in additional social activities with other attendees is optional.

You must be registered in the community by March 1 to be added to the symposium forum for additional information (free membership level is fine).   You may attend this symposium again even if you have attended it previously.  This is not a symposium for clinicians.
