325: Guest: Eli Somer
Eli Somer, a clinician in Israel, joins us to discuss dissociative absorption, reality shifting, and maladaptive daydreaming.ย He says the experience of non-traumagenic plurals is entirely valid, but also distinct from traumagenic DID.ย He says that final fusion or integration is not the only treatment goal, nor a decision for the therapist to make.ย He distinguishes the anthropological experience of multiplicity as a new phenomenon and a completely different thing than DID.ย He shares about his research, when intentional dissociation does become maladaptive or abnormal, and what clinical trends are happening globally.
